Rehabilitation counsellors retain their clients` records after separation to ensure appropriate future access, to keep records in accordance with national or local laws that govern recordings, and to dispose of recordings and other sensitive materials in a manner that protects client confidentiality. B.4.b. Couple and family counselling In counselling for couples and families, counsellors clearly define who is considered a „client“ and discuss expectations and restrictions on confidentiality. Consultants shall endeavour to obtain a written agreement between all parties concerned on the confidentiality of the information. In the absence of an agreement to the contrary, the couple or family is considered a customer. 2.7 THIRD PARTY DISCLOSURES: Marriage and family therapists inform clients/patients of information that may be disclosed (e.g. B treatment data, diagnosis, prognosis, progress and treatment plans) when submitting claims to management care companies, insurers or other third parties.
